Who Has Been Searching For Electric Vehicles in the US?

A new report published this week has established in what US States people are most likely to search for the term “electric cars” on Google – and it makes for fascinating reading. With data going back to 2004 the study reveals that of the 50 States and Washington, DC, residents of New York State have been constantly in the bottom 10, but Hawaiians and Oregonians have consistently been in the top 10 for the past decade.

“Innovation in the automotive world, combined with growing environmental awareness, have thrust all-electric vehicles more into the mainstream,” the report authors point out. “Consumer acceptance, government support and the billions of dollars invested by auto manufacturers have been a boon to the industry. Electric cars are no longer just for the environmentally minded, they now actually make financial sense. But zero-emission cars still lag considerably behind their carbon-emitting, combustion-engine siblings.”
