US Senate sends red light camera notification bill to Baton Rouge governor
Motorists would have to be alerted to the locations of red light cameras, under a bill headed to the governor’s desk.
With a 37-0 vote Tuesday, the Senate gave the measure final legislative passage. The proposal was also overwhelmingly supported in the state House.
If signed by the governor, the bill would require municipalities to post clearly read signs indicating an intersection red light camera within 500 feet of each camera.
The bill would bar local parishes that fail to post the signs from collecting money from drivers fined for running intersections with red light cameras.
