SignPost Solutions launches new sign post without a twist

SignPost Solutions, part of the SWARCO Group, the traffic management solutions business, has launched Signstr8, an innovative anti-rotational signpost aimed at saving local authorities thousands in the cost of replacing signs damaged by accidents or deliberate acts of vandalism.

Tim Daly, Sales Manager of SignPost Solutions, explains that the Signstr8 sign post is manufactured from either steel or aluminium, and outwardly looks like any other sign post.  It uses standard fixings and a cap on the top. The difference is that Signstr8 has a designed-in flat portion so that once installed the sign is fixed and cannot be twisted around the post:

“It means that the signs will always have the correct orientation,” he says. “Signs will not twist over time with wind pressure or by humans, making it a right first time solution. It can save councils time and money because they do not have to send out workers to straighten or repair the signs.

“It also reduces the risk of danger to workers on busy roads, and it means that the public can see the correct information.”

The new posts are proving popular, with some 30 Councils having already adopted Signstr8 as their ‘standard’ post. They are being used to direct traffic, and feature signs that warn about parking restrictions, speed limits, and speed cameras. Warrington Council has recently taken delivery of 2,500 Signstr8 posts to mark its new 20mph zones.

Chris Nicklin, Managing Director of SignPost Solutions, says that Signstr8 is typical of the innovative approach taken by the team: “The company is renowned for finding new ways around old problems, and Signstr8 is already proving popular with Councils looking to get better value from the public purse.”
