Queensland Transport and Main Roads enter the ITS Hall of Fame

Winners of ITS Australia’s National Industry Awards, Queensland Transport and Main Roads have been formally recognised, winning the Hall of Fame award in the local government category for their work on the Emergency Vehicle Priority (EVP) project.

An intuitive intelligent transport system, the EVP technology is able to automatically interrupt normal traffic signal operations without human intervention, to provide a green light for emergency response vehicles to pass through – enhancing the safety of frontline officers and the community.

Reducing emergency vehicle travel times by up to 20%, EVP will further aid the existing transport infrastructure and emergency response times, effectively saving more lives without increasing frontline officers or vehicle numbers.

Celebrations continued into the night as the ITS Australia stand hosted one of the highlights of the event, in the form of a CEO toast by the three co-hosts ERTICO, ITS America and ITS Asia Pacific.

“A celebration of ITS technologies from around the world, last night’s toast at the Asia Pacific Lounge, which was hosted on the ITS Australia stand, was symbolic of our joint efforts to bring future technologies and innovations to the forefront of global issues,” Brian Negus, President, ITS Australia said.

Together with Mr Negus, ERTICO CEO Mr Hermann Meyer, ITS Asia Pacific  Secretary General Mr Hakime Amano and ITS America CEO, Ms Regina Hopper  toasted  to the long running partnership and future success of the World congress series.
