PTV Group teams up with TomTom to provide real-time traffic information to Eurométropole of Strasbourg, France

The Eurométropole Strasbourg in France has selected PTV Group, in collaboration with TomTom, to monitor traffic and conges-tion in real-time across the greater Strasbourg metropolitan area covering an area of more than 600 kilometres road network.

By choosing PTV Group, SIRAC, the city traffic management centre, combines real-time data sourced by TomTom and the ability of PTV Optima analytics platform to provide quality Key Performance Indicator (KPI) on the data.

The quality data enables SIRAC to better monitor and control the conditions on the street. Additionally, highly accurate information about the current traffic situation – traffic flows and gridlocks – is communicated to the public. This service includes not only the high loaded urban network, but is also stretched to the suburban zones.

This new approach allows a consistent and reliable level of information across all road networks. It also fills the information gaps in areas that are equipped with minor data col-lection tools so far.

Taking into account the rich information of the current traffic situation, green shares are adapted by the traffic management centre to smoothen the traffic. The real-time data feeds also the traffic information channels such as Webportal or the specific Cityapp Strasmap.

Frédéric Reutenauer, Managing Director France, PTV Group, comments on the implemen-tation: “Floating Car Data is a big positive trend and brings new opportunities for cities to improve traffic management. That’s why PTV Group provides this data and helps end customers to access it.”

“TomTom is proud to share its high quality Flow product through PTV to improve con-gestion across all road networks in the urban and suburban Strasbourg area. PTV and TomTom develop a strong partnership when it comes to joining forces in projects like these” states Darren Cottage, VP Sales and Marketing, TomTom Geospatial and Traffic.

In the current case of Strasbourg, PTV Group is the bridge between TomTom, the Euro-métropole of Strasbourg and the end user in order to deliver the best value to travelling people.
