EU funds available for clean fuel and vehicle innovations
A €25m call for solutions to cut energy costs, increase resource security and operational safety, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions has been launched by the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT).
The EIT’s KIC InnoEnergy, which has issued the call, is looking for innovative schemes related to electric vehicles and that explore the potential of energy from chemical fuels. The ideas will have positive economic and social impacts related to sustainable energy and must be market-ready within five years of inception.
Current examples of previous transport-related projects funded by KIC InnoEnergy include business and service models to support the roll-out of electric vehicles; extending smart-grid capabilities to help facilitate transitions towards hybrid vehicles; and creating flexible combustion systems for liquid and gaseous biofuels.
The deadline for the proposal of submissions is Thursday 20 November 2014. A final shortlist of proposals will be drawn up between November and December, with the signature process for project agreements to be completed by 27 March 2015.
