ATI21 Lauds President Trump’s Detroit Area Visit to Explore Self-Driving Vehicle Testbed
The Alliance for Transportation Innovation (ATI21.org) commends the Trump Administration’s leadership to accelerate self-driving which is highlighted by tomorrow’s trip to see first-hand the American Center for Mobility at Willow Run. Willow Run is a self-driving testbed and while there, the President is expected to hear industry input on how to develop and deploy self-driving vehicles.
“The President’s visit sends a clear message that the administration is committed to ensuring that America maintains its leadership role in this transformational technology that will save lives and improve accessible mobility options,” said The Alliance for Transportation Innovation president and CEO Paul Brubaker. “These are exciting times and the President is sending a clear signal that demonstrates the seriousness of purpose his administration has regarding the intersection of technology and transportation. We couldn’t be more delighted.”
Late last year ATI21.org published its National Strategic Framework to Advance Life-Saving Self-Driving Vehicles. The publication called on the incoming administration to develop an executive order to overcome some of the significant challenges facing self-driving including modernizing regulations and overcoming public fear of computer driven vehicles. The organization recently finished the first leg of its automated vehicle road trip to try and expose more people to this technology and assuage public concern. ATI21.org will hold a policy summit in Washington beginning in April aimed at making autonomous vehicles a reality.
